MIlpitas Adult Education Center (MAE) is located at 1331 E. Calaveras Blvd. The main building (Bldg 400) houses the Adult Ed Offices.
ADULT EDUCATION MISSION STATEMENT
To empower adult students to strengthen self-esteem, grow in social responsibilities, expand occupational skills, achieve academic success, and pursue personal interests so that they may actively enhance and enrich their lives.
Our classes are open to:
Any resident or non-resident who is at least 18 years old; no one under 16 years will be allowed. Children may not accompany parents to class except where indicated.
Students 16-18 years old with special permission by the school principal and with parental consent.
Juniors or seniors concurrently enrolled in high school who have a school counselor’s approval to take classes for credit or enrichment.
HOW TO ENROLL
Students may pre-register for classes by:
Register online by going to http://www.asaponlinereg.com/default.aspx?org=675
Mailing or faxing in the registration form.
Coming into the office. Payment may be made by cash, check, money order, VISA or MasterCard. Make checks or money orders payable to MUSD.
No one will be allowed to attend a fee class unless he/she has paid by the first class.
Because teachers' salaries are paid by the fees collected, we must limit our refund/transfer policy. Refunds will only be given if requested 15 days before the first class meeting. Refunds will be given for canceled classes. No refunds on books.
SENIOR CITIZENS (Sr) and MUSD EMPLOYEES (Emp)
Senior citizen (age 60+) will receive a 10% discount (rounded up to nearest dollar) on their registration fee when they enroll in any class over $30, except for certain career, computer, cooking, and academic classes designated by the principal. Seniors may register online and receive the senior discount. To get the employee discount, call the main office at (408) 635-2692 to register.
Our community interest classes are not tax supported. We price our classes affordably so we cover costs for teachers' salaries, teaching materials and classroom facilities. These classes must be self-supporting. If we do not have enough students in a class, we will offer students the following options: 1) Pay a slightly higher class fee or 2) have fewer hours of instruction for the same fee. If necessary, a class may be canceled. We do not like to cancel a class, so register NOW! Certain classes may require an additional fee for supplies, books, or equipment.
Students must share the responsibility of keeping a class going by maintaining consistent attendance. Inconsistent attendance may result in a drop.
